Creating An RSS Feed For Any Page
After re-designing The JV Giveaways Directory, I was looking for a way to add an RSS feed to the page. Mostly because this would help me avoid having to log in to Aweber to send out a message every time I added a new event. Google to the rescue. ;o) A short search taught me there are many step-by-step tutorials on how to create a feed for your page online. Going through the list, I found out I had to edit the code for every single link on the page. Wow, that would take ages… But then I bumped into
Feed43 is a free service that allows you to build a feed for ANY page on the web, without having to make any changes to the source code. Just what I was looking for!
You simply enter the URL of the page you want to build a feed for, define some extraction rules* and your output settings and you’re done. I’m a complete RSS-dumbo, and it required a little effort to figure out how it worked, but in the end it took me less than an hour to create 2 feed URL’s (one for members and one for JV Partners).
To end with, I burned both feed URL’s with Feedburner, Googled to find some nice feed-icons (which I definitely found! – You can see one in this blog’s sidebar) and added the subscription links to the JV Giveaways Directory-page.
And guess what…?! Unlike everything else I did these last few weeks, it worked!

* Defining the extraction rules was a little tricky at first. Luckily the site provides a full explanation of the actions to take. After some trial and error, I managed to make it work, and now I got the hang of it, it’s as simple as ABC.
