New Policy Update: Digital Downloadable Goods in Classified Ads Format Only

Filed Under (Uncategorized) by Mieke on 25-03-2008

Here’s the eBay mesage:

Hello…This is Brian Burke, Director Global Feedback Policy. Digital goods are often reproduced at little to no cost to the seller. On eBay, this creates the potential for Feedback Manipulation (both real and perceived). To preserve the integrity of the Feedback system, effective March 31 all goods that can be digitally downloaded or transferred electronically must be listed using the Classified Ads format. Using the Classified Ads format, sellers receive a 30-day ad at a fixed price. This solution enables sellers to continue to market their digital goods on eBay; however, because Classified Ad listings are a lead generation tool and do not result in transactions that go through eBay, Feedback cannot be exchanged between buyer and seller.

Sellers who wish to continue to offer digital goods can do so by selecting the Everything Else>Information Products category in the Sell Your Item form and choosing the Classified Ads format (not auction-style or fixed price). For more information about the Classified Ads format, please read Advertising with Classified Ads.

Will this be the end of selling digital products on eBay????

Filed Under (Uncategorized) by Mieke on 24-03-2008

I was re-listing one of my digital items in my eBayshop, and bumped into this message:

Starting March 31st, listings that contain content that can be digitally downloaded or transferred must be listed in the Classified Ad Format in the Everything Else>Information Products category only. All listings for digital items outside of that category will be considered a policy violation.

From a quick search on the eay help pages, I learned they are charging $9.95 for a 30-day listing in the Classified Ads section.

Will this be the end of selling digital products on eBay????

I’ll keep you up-to-date.

My Big Birthday Sale…

Filed Under (Uncategorized) by Mieke on 20-03-2008

While dealing with one hosting issue after another (you wouldn’t believe it if I told you), I found time to finish the My Big Birthday Sale pages. Personally, I think I’ve done a good job designing the graphics and stuff - I must admit I’m pretty proud of the way the site looks. :o)

For this limited time offer - it will end April 21st -, I compiled three separate packages which you can get for 1 low price. I’ve also added several freebies to the pages and installed a 75% affiliate program, and finally the package is ready to be launched.

(All thanks to RAP (Rapid Action Profits) - the most useful marketing tool I’ve seen so far!)

Is it me, or …?

Filed Under (Uncategorized) by Mieke on 17-03-2008

I’m sorry, guys: the hosting problems aren’t fixed yet. I’m still waiting for the DNS to be updated.

It’s still like I said before: if I didn’t know any better, I’d think every host was against me ;o)

I’ll keep you up-to-date

Hosting Trouble - Episode ????

Filed Under (Uncategorized) by Mieke on 14-03-2008

After purchasing a new webhosting account last week, I still haven’t been able to re-upload everything to a new server. So I decided to ask for a refund and created a new Hostgator account. I’ve read many good things about them, and I suppose such a big company can’t afford to treat their customers bad. (The account I purchase last week was with a pretty big company too, so I guess you can never be sure…)

They told they’d send me my me my hosting account details within 12 hours, so let’s hope I can start transferring tonight…

Daily Blog Backups - Automated And Free

Filed Under (Uncategorized) by Mieke on 13-03-2008

In my search for an easy way to backup my websites (I’ve lost ALL my membership sites, except for AdFactoryPro. It’s time I learn to backup properly, ‘cos all these problems are costing me heaps of time, money and… my credibility), I bumped into this free online blog backup service: BlogBackupOnline.com

It couldn’t be any easier to set up - create a free account, add your blogs and activate your daily blog backup. That’s it. With a free account, you can store 50MB, which is quite sufficiant (my 3 main blogs take up 800kb).

There’s NO reason why you shouldn’t create your free account today. Not convinced? Read my experiences on this blog and learn from my mistakes!

;o)

The Niche Giveaway…

Filed Under (Uncategorized) by Mieke on 03-03-2008

These last few days, I have been working hard to set up The Niche Giveaway.

After being part of the beta-testing group for Giveaway Manager 2 - which is b.t.w. a cool script, once you get the hang of it - I thought there would be no better way to test it than to throw my own JV Giveaway event. I wanted to do so for a long time, but couldn’t think of a point of view.

Not so long ago, I asked around for people’s opinion about the increasing number of JV Giveaway events (read the blog post here) . Most people agreed on the fact that JV Giveaways still remain the best way to build your list fast, but many thought we would all benefit if future giveaways would be (more n)iche-targeted.

With that result in mind, I decided I would not run just á JV Giveaway, but a series of nich-targeted events. The Niche Giveaway was born…
